Check for\u00a0bent, cracked, or missing\u00a0shingles, slates, or tiles. Look for\u00a0damage to the metal flashing in roof valleys and around your chimney, soil stack,\u00a0and other\u00a0protrusions through the roof. These problems\u00a0should be addressed by a roofer before water leaks through and rots out the framing\u00a0underneath. Also, make sure the roofing material \u00a0is still intact on any &#8220;flat&#8221; roofs atop porches or shed-type garages.<\/p>\n<p>Check your gutters, too.
