Teach a Repair Class!
We are always seeking volunteer teachers to give back to the community. Our teachers range from homeowners who have completed projects around the home, to retired professionals in the construction trades, to expert contractors still actively taking jobs. Full expertise is not always required – just a base working knowledge of the subject.
We need teachers of all topics – electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and beyond. Instructors work with HRRC staff to figure out the details of the class – skills to be taught, activities to do, materials needed. We provide everything the teacher will need – handouts, tools, parts – and we handle all the class outreach and registration. We also assist the teacher during class, helping to keep students and teacher on-topic, answer questions with visual aids, and keep class on-time.
While we are unable to pay our instructors, we do frequently refer homeowners to contractors we are familiar with – especially our teachers!
