Corporate matching gifts multiply the impact of your gift

Corporate matching gifts multiply the impact of your gift

A number of caring companies offer a program that matches gifts made by their employees (and sometimes their employees’ spouses, retirees and directors) to qualifying nonprofit organizations like Home Repair Resource Center. These matching donation programs can play a major role in a company’s social responsibility initiatives, but many employees are not aware of them. 65% of Fortune 500 companies, plus many others, will match donations from their employees up to a certain dollar amount per employee per year.

If you are a donor to HRRC, check with your company’s Human Resources Department to see if it will match your contribution. In our last two fiscal years, the following companies have provided matching gifts to HRRC: Aetna Foundation; Dominion Foundation; GE Foundation; KeyBank Foundation; Medtronic Foundation; Progressive Insurance Foundation; and Sherwin-Williams Foundation. If a Matching Gift Program does not already exist at your company, ask whether one could be implemented.

Completing the paperwork documenting your donation is usually quick and easy, and it can make a real difference to nonprofits like HRRC. If you have any questions about matching gifts, feel free to call HRRC director Ben Faller at (216) 381-6100, ext. 11.
